About This Place

Nestled in the heart of San Antonio at 2015 NE Interstate 410 Loop, Comfort Cafe San Antonio is a delightful haven for breakfast and brunch lovers seeking more than just a meal—it offers a heartfelt dining experience that nourishes both body and soul. This charming cafe and restaurant specializes in comforting, expertly crafted dishes that transform familiar favorites into unforgettable plates brimming with flavor and care.

Their Rise and Shine Breakfast Menu is a feast for the senses. Imagine savoring French Toast hand-dipped in a cinnamon-vanilla infused batter, its golden crust giving way to a soft, aromatic center that dances on your taste buds. Or delight in their Swedish-style crepes, thin and elegant, drizzled with fresh lemon and dusted with powdered sugar for a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. If waffles are your weakness, theirs are a must-try—crispy on the outside and tender inside, ready to be crowned with your favorite toppings.

For those who crave something heartier, the Grilled Chicken selections offer a savory journey through bold, fresh flavors. The Classic Chicken boasts a tender, marinated breast cooked to juicy perfection, while The Godfather enchants with roasted red peppers, sundried tomatoes, spinach, and provolone, all layered with fragrant basil pesto. The Mushroom Swiss features a herbed chicken breast topped with caramelized onions, delivering deep, savory notes with every bite. Adventurous palates will enjoy the Southwestern and Buffalo Chicken options, bringing smoky jalapeños and spicy wing sauce to the table for a delicious kick.

Beyond the mouthwatering food, the atmosphere at Comfort Cafe is warm and welcoming, wrapped in a sense of community and purpose. Many diners have praised not only the impeccable food but also the outstanding service. For instance, Marissa Castro fondly recalls a volunteer appreciation brunch where the team, including Travis and Tom, went above and beyond, managing a party of thirteen with ease and genuine hospitality. This attentive and joyful service permeates every visit.

One cannot talk about Comfort Cafe without mentioning the pancakes—according to Brittnee Carlson, these are “the BEST PANCAKES in the U.S.”. Light, fluffy, and perfectly cooked, paired with whipped butter and pure maple syrup, they are worth every minute of the wait. Speaking of waits, the popular nature of this cafe means it can get quite busy, but customers like Jesus appreciate the call-in option, which helps manage expectations and assures a spot at the table.

Comfort Cafe stands out not only for its culinary excellence but also for its unique honor-system payment approach, which reflects the trust and integrity embedded in its mission. Jacqueline Peebles observes this with great respect, noting how 100% of proceeds go to Serenity Star, making every meal here an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause.

Bianca Ellis perfectly sums up the experience: an amazing place to eat that combines delicious food, friendly staff, and the feel-good factor of supporting something bigger. Whether you’re visiting San Antonio or a local looking for your new favorite spot, Comfort Cafe promises a meal that satisfies more than just hunger—it feeds the heart.

I took a small group of volunteers and staff to Comfort Cafe for a volunteer appreciation brunch on Friday and it was just PERFECT! The food was seriously top notch. I wanted to try EVERYTHING. The service was also impeccable! Travis took the best care of our group - even though there were 13 of us - and he had help from Tom on Tom's first day! They were both such a joy! All of the food looked perfect - like it came straight from Instagram. We had a fantastic time in the great old building where we were seated on the second floor - with these huge windows looking out over the beautiful trees. It was like we were in a treehouse. We were busy ogling each others brunch choices and taking pictures of every plate! Their mission is also amazing, and just makes me even more excited to support them! I can't believe it has taken me so long to try them out. Do not make the same mistake that I did. Do NOT SLEEP ON COMFORT CAFE!!! I want to try everything on the menu. BRING CASH!

Hands down the best food I’ve had in a long time. The breakfast potatoes with onions and peppers were cooked to absolute perfection crispy, flavorful, and not overloaded with oil, so the fresh ingredients really shine through. We also ordered the pancakes, and let me just say… they are the BEST PANCAKES in the U.S. Seriously. If there’s a line, don’t even think twice just stay and wait. It’s 100% worth it. You won’t be disappointed.

Well where do I start? We were visiting from Arizona and Georgia and I found this place with amazing reviews. there was about 12 of us and the toes is gonna take about an hour. We were fine with it, but I do recommend you always call ahead for this restaurant. They do have a call in option. It was like an hour and a half and my wife went downstairs to check and it was a different hostess and she said how much longer and the guy looks surprised because he didn’t seem to know anything about us so obviously they forgot about us. Beside us right away after that so after two hours of waiting, we got our food. I will never give anybody less than five stars, but I will tell you exactly what happened. The food was excellent perfect perfection. I would go back. I would just make sure they would not forget about me and I would call her delicious delicious delicious great organization congratulations sometimes we have a little hiccups in our organization and we learn from our mistakes.

It was very crowded, and our waiter Sos was kind enough to let us know that he would take a while to get take our order. The food was good. Pay using the honor system. It is recommended that you pay 5.00 per drink and 15.00 per entrée. 100% of proceeds go to Serenity Star.

Some of the BEST food! We come here as often as we can! It’s a donation based restaurant, so make sure you have cash, and even if you don’t, they have an ATM. It’s always busy, make sure to join the wait list EARLY! I promise, it’s worth the wait every single time! I haven’t had a single bad thing from here, everything is always amazing. The service is great as well! Everyone that works here is volunteers, and by eating here, you support to the Serenity Star. Love this place and love the cause! It’s a must if you are ever in San Antonio! They have so many options from sandwich’s, breakfast foods, pasta, burgers, ect. ( it’s recommended 15$ per meal, but again, it’s donation based, so there aren’t any prices)

Without the amazing mission of this place, it is still amazing! The portions are HUGE and extremely shareable. The breakfast meal I ordered lasted me 3 days. Everything was fresh and homemade. The wait was almost an hour but the nearby trails were a beautiful way to pass the time. They only accept cash, but there was many conveniently placed ATMs.
